Benefits of Agriculture Solar Batteries

Save More on Energy Bills

Installing a solar panel system for your farm will greatly reduce your energy dependence from the grid, allowing you to save more from unnecessary overhead and lower costs on your energy bill.

Energy Independence

You won't have to think about where to get electricity or when it will come back in the event of a power outage. Getting solar panels for your farm will provide you independence from the grid and peace of mind when you need it most.

Reduce Carbon Footprint

Unlike its fossil fuel powered counterpart, solar panels do not produce greenhouse gasses - the primary contributor of global warming. Apart from that, energy generation from solar panels does not produce any kind of noise.

Protect your livestock and livelihood with a backup battery.

Farmers know the issues that can ensue if the power goes out. Entire coops or pins can be wiped out within hours. That’s why it’s important to have a backup system. Many of you already have a diesel generator as a backup, but a solar battery can work with your generator, doing 2 things:

1. It will add an extra layer of protection. If you don’t notice or can’t get there to turn on the power, the battery will kick on for you, potentially saving your flock.

2. The battery can be charged by the generator. Having a generator and a battery working in tandem helps tremendously if farms are without power for extended periods of time. Batteries will ultimately discharge all of the power they’ve stored. Generators will run out of fuel. Having the 2 working in conjunction with one another will allow you to outlast even the worst earthquake, hurricane or tornado.

Why Do I Need Solar Batteries for my Farm?

An important addition to your agricultural solar panel system to provide maximum benefit is a solar battery. Solar batteries will allow you to be fully independent when it comes to power consumption by storing excess electricity that's generated during the day so that you can power your house when the sun isn’t out.

How Do Solar Batteries Work?

The process starts with the generation of power from the solar panels installed on the roof. Now, there are two types of electricity that solar panels produce: AC and DC.

For DC-coupled systems, this is how it works:

1. Sunlight will shine on the solar panels and the energy will be converted to DC electricity.

2. The electricity accumulated will be stored as DC electricity in the battery.

3. The stored DC electricity will then leave the battery and will enter an inverter to be converted into AC electricity which the household can use.

For AC-coupled systems, the process is somewhat different, and this is how it works:

1. Sunlight will shine on the solar panels and the energy will be converted to DC electricity.

2. The electricity accumulated will pass through an inverter to be converted into AC electricity which the household can use.

3. The excess electricity will then pass through another inverter to be converted back to DC and will be stored in the battery.

4. In the event that the household needs to use the power stored in the battery, that electricity will again pass through the inverter to be converted into AC electricity.

What are the Benefits of Solar Battery Storage for my Farm?

Want to get the most out of your solar panel system? Get a battery back up!

Here are the benefits of having a solar battery storage system for your farm:

Cost Savings

Having a solar battery storage partnered with your solar panel system can help you save money on your power bill by storing excess solar energy during the day when the sun is up, and then using that energy at night time or during times of high energy demand. This will ensure reducing your reliance on the grid and can also reduce overall electricity costs.

Increased Reliability

Having a reliable source of power during power outages or blackouts with a solar battery storage backup will give you great peace of mind. Having this kind of backup can especially be important for farms that rely on power for operations such as milking machines, irrigation pumps, or refrigeration.

Increased Control

Control your energy usage as well as avoid high power prices during peak hours with a solar battery backup. You can choose to use stored energy during times of the day where electricity prices surge, which can help you save even more money.

Enjoy the benefits of a solar battery backup for years to come because these systems are built to last. Its long life span guarantees a cost-effective investment for your farm.

Solar Battery Backup

Depending on your farm’s operations, a battery backup system may make sense. These can also be paired with a generator to ensure that your farm never loses power. These are big features for chicken or turkey coops, where a loss of power, even for a few hours, can mean a catastrophic loss of livestock. These can also power well water pumps or other essential features.

Solar Powered Generator

Although these are not solar powered, it doesn’t mean that they don’t work well with solar and battery systems. Our focus is to ensure your operations are not disrupted, and often that includes a generator. In the event of a loss of power, a battery backup system can discharge power, just as a generator would. Oftentimes, generators are included as a “backup to the backup.” The batteries can discharge first, saving your expensive fuel. If the batteries become depleted, the generator will kick on, and while providing power, it will also charge the batteries. This becomes even more valuable in the event of massive storms, where the solar powered battery may not be able to charge as quickly due to heavy cloud cover.

Roof Replacement

If your solar system is going on a barn roof, you’re eligible for a roof replacement included in your system cost. These are often eligible for all the incentives as well. Essentially, you’re getting a new roof for 20-25% of the cost.
